For the second time in the span of a week, an Emporia High basketball team has earned a tournament title over a Shawnee Heights team.
A week after the EHS boys won the Ralph Miller Classic over the Thunderbirds in Chanute, the Emporia girls won the Glacier's Edge title with a 46-41 victory over Shawnee Heights on Saturday at EHS.
Emporia began the game by outscoring Heights, 15-1, in the first quarter, but Heights managed to make things interesting down the stretch, pulling to within two points at 43-41 after three consecutive 3-pointers.
But EHS iced the game from the free-throw line, going 3-for-4 at the stripe in the final 25 seconds to hold off the Lady T-Birds.
EHS was led by tournament MVP Nichole Naab, who scored 14 points. Sadie Webb and Lexi Hileman joined Naab on the All-Tournament team, as Webb added 11 points and Hileman chipped in six points.
