Chase County
The Chase County Leader-News reported on Jan. 24 that the Chase County Board of County Commissioners reached a consensus on a pay increase for most county employees. Among the raises, the board approved a 25-cent per hour increase for the county’s full-time employees and set commissioners’ pay at $985 per month. The board said the increases can be met within the existing budget and will cost about $35,000.

Tip Sipe will continue to serve as board chairman of the Board of Coffey County Commissioners, the Coffey County Republican reported on Jan. 18. Fred Rowley Jr. will serve as vice-chairman.

The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy has moved into its new home at Fourth and Garrettson in Burlington, the Coffey County Republican reported on Jan. 18. The new 2,500 square-foot stucco and stone building provides about three times the space as the old building. The new building allows for more over-the-counter products and a drive-through is located on the north side.
