GLOBAL FLOW Equipment, which purchased ABZ Manufacturing but will leave operations in Madison. ABZ is the community’s largest taxpayer.
- Angela Finch, Monica Fladung, Tasha Fladung, Hilary Larson, Caitlin McGuire, Brandon Childs, Aaron Clark, Fletcher Harder, Matt McAnarney and Harrison Stone, who were nominated for Emporia High Winter Sports King and Queen.
- Bryan Sandoval, Jacob Wright and Mary Miller, who will move onto the second phase of the National Georgraphic Bee and a chance to win $25,000 college scholarship.
- Robyn Meahl, who held a recital to benefit the Shiloh Home of Hope. The event raised $3,500.
- Emporia State University professor Kenna Reeves, who was named a Kansas Master Teacher for 2008.
- Pallets Plus, which moved its business to 1771 Road G after a fire destroyed the company’s building on South Highway 99.
- Courtney George, who was this month’s winner of ESU’s You Make a Difference Award. George is the Associated Student Government president.
