Library news

Many new books have been added to the shelves of the Americus Township Library. They are: “The Gift” by Richard Paul Evans, “Where Angels Go” by Debbie Macomber, “All Through the Night” by Suzanne Brockmann, “New Year’s Quilt” by Jennifer Chiaverini, “Simple Gifts” by Lori Copeland, “Bad Dogs Have More Fun” by John Grogan, “Capote in Kansas” by Kim Powers, “The Nazi Officer’s Wife” by Edith Hahn Beer with Susan Dworkin, “Steve & Me” by Terri Irwin, “Doubtful Canon” by Johnny D. Boggs, “The Western” by Gary and Margaret Kraisinger and “Deceptively Delicious” by Jessica Seinfeld.

Regular story time is held every Thursday from 9:30 to 10 a.m. A special children’s crafts time is held on the last Thursday of each month.

Rec basketball  The basketball season is underway for Grades 3 through 6 in the Scott Brown Youth Basketball League which includes teams from Council Grove, Mission Valley, Burlingame, Lyndon, Osage City, North Lyon County and Americus. The girls’ and boys’ third-grade team and the fourth-grade team from Americus will play at 9 and 11 a.m. Saturday in the Americus Middle School gym. The fifth and sixth grade will play at 10 a.m. For information about the games contact Marsha Johnson, (620) 443-5655. The games are open to the public.
