Today

The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.

Tuesday

The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Etude Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Paula Neuer. The program about “LIFE (in Africa)” will be given by Keyna Bugner, member of the Peace Corps.

The Junto Study Club meets for high tea at the home of Mary Shepherd.

The Literary League meets at 12:30 p.m. for lunch at the Shanghai Restaurant. Regina Murphy of The Emporia Gazette will talk about “Murphy’s Menu.”

The Research Club meets with Nancy Toms. Helen Call will present the program.

The Senior Singles group for 50+ singles desiring Christian Fellowship meets every third Wednesday at noon at the Regency Gardens restaurant in the Best Western Motel. The group orders off the menu and there is usually a program. Information: 342-6186.

The Emporia Camera Club meets at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 802 Commercial St. The program, “Kansas Landscape,” will be given by Jim and Susie Aber. Ken and Marilyn Buchele will be the hosts.

P.E.O. Chapter G.T. meets at 1:15 p.m. for Founders Day with Susan Cockrell. Peggy Wygle will give the program, “Bag Ladies.” Susan Cockrell will give the projects report about Kansas Cottey College scholarships.

Saturday

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
