New equipment for the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office was among several agenda items on Wednesday’s Lyon County Commission agenda.
Richard Old, Lyon County undersheriff, told commissioners that the sheriff’s office would like to purchase four walkie-talkies and five car radios that will convert patrol cars to newer technology. The cost of the radio equipment is $12,700.
Old also told commissioners the department would like to purchase two new light bars for patrol cars.
“We have older light bars on the car now that are being held together with bailing wire and super glue,” Old said.
The cost of the light bars is around $1,500.
In other matters:
• Commissioners discussed the tenant agreement at 2632 W. Highway 50 between Lyon County and the Lyon County Extension Office. The old agreement for the organization’s Commercial Street office is being updated to include information about the new location.
• Commissioners received an update on the extension office remodel. The building is move-in ready with the exception of some appliances for the kitchen, which need to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. About $800 more will be needed to purchase the necessary appliances to go with the ADA-compliant kitchen. Commissioners projected the extension office will be able to move into the newly remodeled building sometime next week.
