Emporia High senior running back Edd Noonan has been nominated for the Old Spice Red Zone Player of the Year award.
For being nominated, Noonan now is eligible to be selected as one of 50 national Red Zone Players of the Year, with the potential to be honored in a full-page feature in USA Today in February.
Noonan rushed for 1,405 yards and 14 touchdowns on 235 carries this past fall.
High school coaches across the country nominate one player from their team. Should Noonan be named a Red Zone Player of the Year, he will receive a plaque and other awards.
In its seventh year, the Red Zone Player of the Year award recognizes high school football players “elevate their play and step up when the heat is really on,” a release stated. The athletes embody leadership, performance and desire, and serve as examples to their teammates on and off the field.
