Art contest
High school students in the First Congressional District are eligible to take part in the Congressional Arts Competition, according to information from U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran.
Entries must be received between Jan. 29 and Feb. 2 at the Visual Arts Alliance, 223 S. Main St., McPherson, KS.
Awards will be announced at a reception on Feb. 9 at the Visual Arts Alliance building.
“Creativity and art are an important part of a young person’s education,” Moran said in his weekly newsletter. “... I encourage students to enter their work for the unique opportunity to have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol.”
Winning entries will be displayed there for one year.
