Fall graduates
Students from Emporia who received degrees from the University of Kansas in the fall of 2007 included Karley Trae Ast and Cory J. House. Ast, who received a master’s degree in the history of art, is the daughter of Robert and Sandra Ast and a graduate of Emporia High School. House, the son of Dave House, received a master’s degree in business administration.
Bethel scholarships
First-year Bethel College students from Emporia who received academic scholarships for the 2007-08 school year included Rachael Bachman, who received the Dean’s Academic Scholarship, valued at $27,200 over a four-year period. Bachman, the daughter of Greg and Karen Bachman, graduated in 2007 from Emporia High School.
Master of arts
Brian David Jansen of Emporia received a master of arts degree from the Graduate College at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln during the Dec. 22 commencement ceremony.
On dean’s list
Martin Ferree, Kyla Sheldon, Staci Tabares and Adam Tebben, all of Emporia, were named to the College of Arts and Sciences dean’s list at Baker University in Baldwin City. These students maintained a 3.5 grade-point average or higher during the fall 2007 semester.
Washburn graduates
Washburn University graduates from Emporia are Richard Marzec, cum laude, bachelor’s degree in technology administration and Jackie Weatherholt, magna cum laude, bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and law enforcement, who received their degrees during the Dec. 14 commencement ceremonies.
Certified at KU
Katherine Ann Moneymaker of Emporia completed the University of Kansas certification for service learning during the fall 2007 semester. Moneymaker, the daughter of Richard and Cynthia Moneymaker and graduate of Emporia High School, is a freshman at KU studying pre-social welfare.
