Physicians reaccredited
Three Coffey County Health System doctors have been reaccredited through the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Doctors John Shell, Chris Jarvis and Donald Braun have completed continuing and education that, a news release says, assure the highest standards in the highest standards in the field of family medicine.
Dennis George, Coffey Health System’s chief executive officer, said, “It is very important to Coffey Health Systems that our physicians maintain the highest possible standard of care. The accreditation of Doctors Shell, Jarvis and Braun certifies that they have completed the most up-to-date training and assures their thorough knowledge of family medicine.
Founded in 1947, the academy is one of the largest national medical organizations, representing more than 94,000 physicians, family-medicine residents and medical students. Accredited physicians must complete education requirements and be retested every 10 years.

short move
Tammy’s $1 Shoppe & Gift Emporium began the new year at a new address. Now at 1109 Commercial St., the business, owned by Tammy Williams, features new items each week, stocking gift items, collectibles and party supplies.
Williams describes the store as “your place for unique, useful and useable gifts,” noting that it is “two stores in one.”
The $1 Shoppe specializes in items that, as the store’s name implies, sell for $1 or less. The stock includes makeup, sports memorabilia, books and children’s books, glassware and candles.
The Gift Emporium’s inventory includes stuffed animals, water globes, porcelain dolls, music boxes and pillows. Gift baskets are in stock or can be made to order.
The store carries licensed items, including NASCAR, the NFL, John Deere, KU and K-State authorized merchandise.
Ex-Emporian honored
Former Emporian Arianne Aldrich Seidl is Missouri’s Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year for 2007.
Seidl received the honor in November at the convention of the Missouri Association of Health, Physical Education and Dance. She had received a similar honor for the East Central District of Missouri.
Seidl lives in Moberly, Mo., where she teaches at Gratz Brown Elementary School. She previously taught for two years at Schilling Elementary in Salina.
She graduated from Salina Central High School in 1997 and from Aurora (Ill.) University in 2001. She holds a degree in K-12 physical education and a YMCA Senior Directors Certificate.
