Computer classes

- The Emporia Public Library will offer computer classes from 2 to 3:30 p.m., beginning Monday with Basic Word Processing; Jan. 15, How to use the Mouse; Jan. 23, Basic E-mail; Jan. 28, Internet Seaching. Basic computer knowledge is required. The class is limited to 14 people. To register, call 340-6462. Those not registered may be turned away if classes are full. The same four classes will be offered in February and March.

- Computer classes about finances will be offered from 2 to 3:30 p.m Wednesday and Thursday at the William Allen White Library computer laboratory at Emporia State University. There is no charge, but registration is requested. To register, call 340-6462. The class is limited to 22 people, and it is necessary for participants to have a basic knowledge of the Internet and computers. Card shower

The family of Pearl Roberts requests a card shower to celebrate her 89th birthday on Jan. 10. Cards may be sent to 2202 Road 105, Hartford, KS 66854.

Neosho Rapids meeting

The Neosho Rapids city council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the city community building. All city patrons are invited to attend.

Child care questions

The Lyon County Health Department accepts all inquiries regarding child care, according to the press release.

If one is interested in becoming licensed or registered to provide child care or if one needs to report poor quality or illegal child care, call Mary Sutton, Child Care Surveyor, at 342-4864, Ext. 214.
