The Emporia Arts Council New Year’s Eve event was a success, with close to 200 people in attendance.
The event was held at William Lindsay White Auditorium in the Municipal Building. Guests were greeted with musical entertainment and Italian-style appetizers in a bistro setting. Guests paid $50 a person or $100 a couple in advance and $65 per person or $130 a couple at the door.
Melissa Windsor, director of the Emporia Arts Council, 618 Mechanic St., said this morning the attendance goal was reached.
“That was our goal when we started and we were just thrilled to meet it,” Windsor said.
Windsor said she is pleased with Monday evening’s the turnout.
“It was great,” she said. “Everybody had a great time.”
This is the first year the Arts Council has held the event. Windsor said the community arts organization plans to make it an annual event.
“I think many people would be happy to hear that,” she said. “It was such a great party.”
Windsor said the money raised will go to the Arts Council general operating fund. She did not have a figure available this morning.
