EMPORIA STATE UNIVERSITY, whose enrollment increased. The school gained 34 students for a .6 percent rise in enrollment.
- Organizers and participants in the Spring Expo at the Lyon County Fairgrounds. More than 1,800 people browsed among 40 vendor booths.
- Organizers and participants in the Scrabble Scramble. The event raised $2,486 for the Emporia Literacy Program.
- Organizers and participants in the Flint Hills Techinical College’s sixth annual benefit auction. The event raised more than $22,000 for the college.
- Sensei Salon, Sunflower Gymnastics, and Wheat State Pizza, which will be honored in Topeka during the fifth annual Emerging and Existing Businesses of the Year Awards.
- Country Mart and Price Chopper grocery stores, which will sell cakes as a fundraiser for area high school proms. Schools will receive 100 percent of the proceeds.
- Tyson Foods, which is donating 38,000 pounds of food to the Salvation Army and other local service agencies. Tyson will also store the food.
