An Emporia businessman and attorney has thrown his hat into the ring for the 1st District U.S. House seat.
James Bordonaro, a Democrat, announced his candidacy Wednesday afternoon in a press release. The seat currently is held by Republican Jerry Moran.
“This will be a campaign based on ideas and practical solutions,” Bordonaro said in the release. “My campaign will not be focused on negative personal attacks about the incumbent, but will instead point out his votes in Congress which a majority of our district disagrees with.”
Bordonaro has been married for 17 years to Gaelynn Wolf Bordonaro, director of Emporia State University’s art therapy master’s program. Both Bordonaros received their graduate degrees from Florida State University.
“I seek to return civility to Washington D.C. and to political discourse in general,” Bordonaro said. “This will be a campaign of new ideas and hope for the future direction of our country.”

I am interested in hearing what his views are. If he has good ideas that can be realisticly implemented I don't care what his party is. Nancy Boyda calls herself a democrat and I really like what she has done so far.

Who is this candidate? An Emporia businessman? An Emporia Lawyer? Forgive me, I've only lived here for 19 years, but somehow I have missed even hearing his name. Good luck to him, though.

He could start introducing himself by telling all his true position on Illegal Immigration, NAFTA, etc. Also, Mr. Bordonaro, what say you about local government corruption? Do you get in bed at night and snuggle with Corporate America?

I think Moran has done an outstanding job for all of us. I am not interested in changing something that works.
