The Lebo boys scored at least 20 points in every quarter on the way to a dominating 89-65 victory over Chase County Tuesday night at Lebo in the first round of the Class 2A Sub-State.
The Wolves doubled up on Chase County after one quarter, getting out to a 20-10 lead before stretching that advantage out to 41-22 at halftime, giving top-seeded Lebo (15-6) all the separation it would need to advance one step closer to the State tournament.
The offensive charge was led by senior Adam Laflin, who scored 16 points in the first half on his way to a game-high 30 points.
But it didn’t stop there for Lebo. Blake Jones and Cameron Smith also reached double figures, with Jones going for 24 points, including 12 points in the fourth quarter, while Smith finished with 18 points.
Brian Palermo scored 22 points to lead the way for Chase County, which saw its season come to a close. Shawn Talkington was the only other Bulldog in double figures with 10 points.
Lebo advances to play No. 5-seeded Lyndon on Friday at Alma-Wabaunsee High School.

No. Heights girls 46, West Franklin 30
The Northern Heights girls got past West Franklin, 46-30, Tuesday night at Allen in the first round of the Class 3A Sub-State, setting up a rematch with nemesis Osage City on Friday.
Osage City beat Northern Heights three times this season, which included the Lady Indians taking a 46-43 overtime win in the Flint Hills Shootout and a dominating 70-41 victory last Thursday.
“It (the win over West Franklin) was a good win,” Heights coach Tim Riemann said, “and now we can get ready for Friday.”
Tuesday night’s victory over fifth-seeded West Franklin was keyed by a balanced offensive attack by the No. 4-seeded Ladycats (13-8), as seven Heights players scored led by Sarah Boline’s 12 points. Andrea Miller scored nine points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Amy Lee added eight points.
Heights got out to a 13-3 lead after one quarter, but West Franklin dug itself back into the game by outscoring Heights 9-3 in the second frame.
The Ladycats took a 26-19 lead into the fourth quarter, where they put the game away by outscoring the Lady Falcons (9-12) by nine in the period.
“I thought that we stepped up in the fourth quarter and finished strong,” Riemann said.
The Heights girls will try for the fourth time to knock off top-seeded Osage City on Friday in Wellsville.
