Flint Hills Community Health Center finished January above the expected revenue for the month by more than $50,000.
The Flint Hills Community Health Center Board of Directors met Tuesday afternoon for their monthly meeting. January’s operations netted $158,663.07, which is above the projected budgeted income of $107, 094.30. A portion of that income, $32,661, is from the Jones Trust contribution.
In other business, board members discussed possible participation in a program through the National Association of City and County Health Officials (NACCHO) to share in grant money from the organization. Lougene Marsh, executive director of the health center, said the grant would help evaluate the health center’s readiness for voluntary accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board that was incorporated in May, 2007 with plans to begin accepting applications for accreditation in 2011.
“The goal of the voluntary national accreditation program is to improve and protect the health of the public by advancing the quality and performance of health departments,” Marsh added.
The board signed a letter of support to apply for the grant, which each health center applies for individually but have to be working with other health centers to be eligible.
