Former Emporia Gazette reporter Pete Early, whose book “Crazy: A Father’s Search Through America’s Mental Health Madness” was a finalist for the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for non-fiction, received the Schorr Family Award for Distinguished Contribution in Advancing Public Understanding of Mental Illness at a ceremony Monday at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz.
Early, who worked at the Tulsa World and the Washington Post after leaving Emporia, is the author of 12 non-fiction books and novels.
