Today
The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.
The Reading Lions Club meets at 7 p.m. at the Reading Community Building.
Tuesday
The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
P.E.O. Chapter HY meets at the First United Methodist Church for election and installation of officers. Sandy Fleming will serve as hostess. The program will be “Fire Department and EMTs.” Trish Weidert will give the continuing education report.
Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday during February at KFC, 2613 Candlewood Drive. During March, the group meets at Bobby D’s, 607 Merchant St. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.
The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.
The Emporia Duplicate Bridge Club meets at 6:30 p.m. in the lobby of the Best Western Hospitality House, 3021 W. Highway 50. Information: Clara Elkins at 342-5274.

The American Legion Ball-McColm Post 5 regular meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at the Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave. , where the American Legion Auxiliary meets at 9 a.m. The Sons of the American Legion Post 5 meets at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday
The Sunrise Rotary Club meets at 7 a.m. at the Regency Gardens, 3021 W. Highway 50.
AARP Chapter 285 meets at 11:30 a.m. at the Regency Gardens. The program will be given by Cynthia Bailey, county representative of the Kansas Ombudsman Office. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, call 342-5139.
Military Order of the Purple Heart meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. Information: Aaron Bura, 342-4381.
Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday
The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.
The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.
The Sertoma Club does not meet today.
The Emporia Model Railroad Club meets at 7:30 p.m. at 916 Arundel St. the last Thursday of each month. Those interested in model or prototype railroading are welcome to attend. Information: 343-8325.
Saturday
The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport.
