Despite cold temperatures in the forecast for today, spring is right around the corner and the 2008 Spring Expo this weekend should help get residents in the spring mood.
The third annual Spring Expo, which runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Lyon County Fairgrounds, will have a variety of things available from lawn and gardening to home improvement, said Tara Freeman, of the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce. There are more than 40 booths this year, Freeman said.
A new event this year is a Ride ’n’ Drive, which allows people attending the event to test lawn and garden equipment such as lawn mowers before they buy.
“You can test it out and drive it,” Freeman said.
There will be lots of door prizes this year as well. Autographed and framed Clint Bowyer pictures will be given away, courtesy of Thurston’s Auto Body, as well as several other door prizes. There also will be a concession stand hosted by a 4-H group.
“It’s free to come, free to win,” Freeman said. “You can come around to get ideas for your house and for spring.”
Admission to this weekend’s Spring Expo is free.
