Fagg eases financial burden

For any student who has ever dealt with the stress of financial aid, Bobbi Fagg makes a difference.

Fagg, a recipient of this month’s You Make a Difference Award, has worked in Emporia State University’s Financial Aid office for 16 years. Throughout the years, Fagg has learned a lot about financial aid, and how to answer questions students may have.

Kathy Redeker, Fagg’s nominator for the award says, “She is very helpful, knowledgeable and goes the extra mile to make sure students have the aid they need and understand the conditions of that aid. She is always looking for ways to get students the help and answers they need as quickly as possible.”

Fagg says that the closeness among employees is one of her favorite things about working at ESU.

“I talk to many people in a wide range of offices daily. We all work together so well, and that helps with getting our students answers to questions,” Fagg said. “It’s great knowing everyone you speak to is willing to help you get answers to your questions.”

Fagg has been a member of numerous committees on campus, including Homecoming Committee and Classified/Unclassified Awards Ceremony Committee. It’s this involvement, she says, that has really helped her make a difference at ESU.

“Get involved. It’s a great way to meet students and employees. I met some wonderful people when I sat on those committees. It also gets you out into the community and meet business people in town, many of them who have supported ESU for years and continue to,” she says.

Of course, for Fagg, what it really comes down to is the students. “The best part is when you see the relief on students’ faces when they know everything is fine and taken care of and they’ll be receiving their aid, then the smiles and the ‘thank you.’ That’s great to see.”
