Flint Hills Optimist
The Flint Hills Optimist Club welcomed Courtney Graves as the newest member, sponsored by Bob Glover. Graves, who is the executive director of Big Brothers/Big Sisters, was presented a check for $750 from the club for the BB/BS organization. Graves announced that the 2008 BB/BS Bowl for Kids Sake classic will be on April 4, 5 and 6. Another new member, Kayla Oney, was officially inducted into the club by president Bob Burenheide. It was announced the Easter Egg Hunt will be held March 22 at Jones Park, with the rain date of March 29. Rich Jaggard was thanked for “carrying on the late Derry Nail’s fine work by locating 160 quality stuffed animals” to be given to the Emporia Fire Department as Trauma Teddies.
