Today

The Emporia Chess Society meets from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Granada Coffee Company and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. every Saturday at Pyramid Pizza. All ages and skill levels are welcome, including children. There is no charge.

Emporia Masonic Lodge 12 meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Masonic Temple, 424 Merchant St.

Tuesday

The Rotary Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Etude Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Treva Stuck, assisted by Char Miller. Paula Neuer will give a book review.

The Junto Study Club meets at the home of Lucy Eusey. Marged Amend will present the program.

The Literary League meets at 1:30 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, with Mary Melhorn serving as hostess, assisted by Helen Kassens. Roll Call will be “Favorite Music Composer.” There will be a GFWC music contest presentation. Guests will be member of the GFWC Parliament Club.

The Research Club meets at 1:30 p.m. with Jerri Pennington. Janice Schulte will present the program.

Single Adult Fellowship group meets at 6 p.m. every Tuesday during February at KFC, 2613 Candlewood Drive. Information: Rufus Hobbs, 392-5780.

The Kiwanis Club meets at 6:15 p.m. in the Commander’s Room at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

The Emporia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association meets at 6:30 p.m. after dinner at the Golden Corral,, 2830 W. 18th Ave. The speaker, Gail Coburn of the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas, will give a presentation about depression. Lyon County Chapter 36 Disabled American Veterans meets at 7:30 p.m. at the Army Reserve Center, 1412 E. Sixth Ave. The Auxiliary meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of each month at the same location at 7:30 p.m.

The Flint Hills Optimist Club meets at noon at the ESU Memorial Union.

The Hi-Noon Kiwanis Club meets at noon at the Emporia Country Club, 18th Avenue and Rural Street.

The Sertoma Club meets at noon at the American Legion, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

The Altrusa Club meets at the home of Rita Wurtz. The hostess will be Lori Moore, assisted by Wurtz, Ginger Renfer and Jan Miley.

Flint Hills Area Vietnam Veterans meet at 6 p.m. at American Legion Post 5, 2921 W. 12th Ave.

Saturday

The Emporia Airport Action Group meets at approximately 9:30 a.m. every Saturday in the main terminal at the Emporia Municipal Airport for “hangar talk,” coffee and doughnuts. “You are free to move about” the airport. Information: 342-3598.
