Rossbach shatters school record in 5,000-meter run at ISU Open
Emporia State senior runs fastest time in Division II this year

Emporia State’s Jonel Rossbach shattered the school record in the 5,000-meter run on Friday at the Iowa State Open in Ames, Iowa.
The senior’s time of 16:51.62 broke Kadri Kelve’s 2003 mark by more than 20 seconds.
Rossbach’s time is the fastest in Division II this year by more than 15 seconds and automatically qualifies her for Nationals.
The ESU track team also added a pair of provisional qualifiers at the Missouri Southern Invitational in Joplin, Mo.
Brooke Kent finished third in the long jump (18 feet, 11.75 inches), which also was the fifth-best mark in school history. Her leap is just two centimeters from an automatic berth to Nationals.
Jennifer Robinson also provisionally qualified in the long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 1.75 inches.
Two ESU freshmen added championships at MSSU, as Kenton Lonberger won the 200-meter dash (22.32 seconds) and Josh Honeycutt took first in the long jump (23 feet, .5 inches).
Skyler Delmott added to a strong day for the Hornets, finishing with the fifth-fastest 5,000-meter time in ESU history (14:56.46) at the ISU Open.
ESU will continue action in the MSSU Invitational today.
