Lyon County 4-H Council meeting
The monthly meeting of the Lyon County 4-H Council was called by Leslie Creager at 7 p.m. Feb. 4. The flag salute was led by Leah Roberts and Jessica Miller. Roll call was led by the secretary with 25 members with five clubs reporting. Kosinski gave the treasurer’s report and it was approved.
Sheila Price gave a short report proposing some fair changes by the Fair Board. The council members are to take the information back to their clubs for comments to be returned at the next council meeting.
For the agent report, Michelle Koenig said that at the beef weigh-in they had 73 animals. She also mentioned that the Fair Board would like help painting the livestock buildings from 4-H members. The Quest program is at William Allen White school this year and still needs volunteers for certain dates. Michelle reports that Kristen Garcia, Rebecca Kvas, Morgan Michels, and Mark Windle all have records books going on to state judging. The clubs gave their reports and the ambassadors said that they were selling T-shirts.
For old business, a call to Mrs. Michels was made about the diner manager position but they have not heard from her yet. For New Business, the council announced that they cannot pay for spring livestock judges. If possible, there will be a county wide lock-in on April 4 with a backup date on March 28. The council set a committee for this.
Upcoming dates include: Feb. 16 Lyon County Spring Rabbit Show; Feb. 17-18 CIA; Feb. 22-23 State Ambassador training; March 1 Club Days. The next council meeting will be at 7 p.m. March 3.
