Emporia High senior guard Caydrick Bloomquist has been nominated for the McDonald’s All-American High School Basketball Team, which honors the top senior prep standouts in the nation.
Bloomquist is the leading scorer for the 10-5 Spartans, averaging 21.5 points per game. A Class 5A first-team selection last year as a junior, Bloomquist also is the school’s all-time leading three-point shooter.
The 6-foot guard is among 1,500 nominees for the All-American squad. The field will be whittled down to 24 positions before the East vs. West McDonald’s All-American Game on March 26. The McDonald’s All-American Basketball Boys Team Selection Committee, a group of 32 basketball experts, coaches and journalists, nominated Bloomquist.
Bloomquist is the son of Rick Bloomquist, who is also Emporia High’s boys basketball coach, and Rebecca Shum of El Dorado.
Caydrick Bloomquist’s nomination will be recognized by Sue Drogemeier and Keith Dunnavin on behalf of Shandler’s McDonald’s, 18th and Industrial, during tonight’s game against Washburn Rural. The game is scheduled to begin at approximately 7:30 p.m.
