Lyon County Planning/Appeals Board
The Lyon County Planning/Appeals Board will meet for its regular meeting starting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse, 430 Commercial St. Items on the agenda include:
• A request for agriculture special-use telecommunication tower by Selective Site Service, representative of Horvath Tower LLC, Commnet Wireless LLC. John A. Brinkman is the property owner of the tract.
• An application initiated by the Lyon County Planning/Appeals Board to consider amending sections of the Lyon County Zoning Regulations to read as follows:
• Strike the definition of Urban Access Corridors and replace it with 16 different urban access corridors.
Lyon County Commission
The Lyon County Commission will meet for a study session starting at 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Lyon County Commission chambers of the Lyon County Courthouse. Items on the agenda include:
• 8:30 a.m. — Commissioners will give individual reports.
• 8:45 a.m. — Lougene Marsh, executive director of Flint Hills Community Health Center, will discuss the health centers’ fourth quarter report.
• 9 a.m. — Chip Woods, Lyon County engineer, will discuss options on hiring trucks to haul rock; discuss sending seven people to the Spring 2008 Gravel Road & Street Maintenance seminar; review road/sign supervisor’s weekly reports; and review comparison of 2007 and 2008 expenses.
• 9:45 a.m. — Richard Old, Lyon County undersheriff, will discuss the purchase of Civil Process software included in 2008 budget.
• 10 a.m. — Commissioners will review road vacation procedures provided by the county clerk and will review Emporia Flood Plain Management Ordinance.
• 10:15 a.m. — Amy Jordan of the Lyon County Extension Office will discuss window treatment options for the Lyon County Extension Office — bids for blinds and/or tinting.
• 10:30 a.m. — Kevin Hanlin of Emporia zoning will discuss Planning Commission application by P.D. Miller for a conditional use permit to allow a mobile home in an agricultural district, located at 1868 N. Highway 99.
