How do you plan to improve the not so good relationship between the Sheriff's Department and the police department? For far too long many useful resources have been wasted or not utilized due to stubborn administrations. It seems though that this is mostly due to the admin. at the Sheriff's Dept. Wouldn't you agree that both agencies should work together in efforts to better serve the community and if the Admin. at the Sheriff's Dept. is not willing than perhaps someone else should step in there and try to make a change?

I saw a female police officer sitting down and having dinner at Quizno's last night and her police car was running outside. Do you think this is necessary or just another way to waste money? I guess we wouldn't want her car to get cold but then again her husband or boyfriend that was eating with her shut off his car.

With the Tyson problem, there is no doubt the number of pets being surrendered at the animal shelter is higher.
Is it true when an animal is signed over, the employees directly take it to the gas chamber? But if a dog is found stray, it gets 3 days by law, then maybe put up for adoption?
Isn't there some way the adoptable animals being surrendered can be given more of a chance to be adopted?

Was curious as to whether or not the city has been following the stories in other towns about foreclosures/layoffs etc... Have you seen the effect of the economy on the animals left behind? Many people are abandoning them, setting them loose on the streets, or surrendering them to shelters. This will have a dramatic effect on our local shelter. What is the emergency plan to handle the influx?
