Morris County
The Council Grove Republican reported that Morris County commissioners approved the hiring of Infinitec to set up the main module for a county web page at a cost of $2,595. The project will be paid for through the technology fund.
Burlington
The Coffey County Republican reported that Coffey Country is preparing for bridge inspections. The Kansas Department of Transportation stated that two bridges do not have current inspections in the county. However, the two bridges are no longer in use. A bridge on Fauna Road was closed in December. The other bridge in question on Emmer Lane has been closed 10 years. Bridge inspections in Coffey County will take place this year.
Council Grove
The Council Grove Republican reported that bald eagle numbers at Council Grove Reservoir have been high enough in recent weeks to provide good viewing opportunities. Eighteen bald eagles were spotted on Jan. 10 and on Monday there were 24 spotted.
Madison
The Madison News reported that the Madison City Council met Monday and began with a public hearing on the application for exemption from ad valorem taxation for economic development by ABZ Manufacturing. No one was present at the public hearing. The council closed the public hearing and approved the application.
