Benefit auction
Reservations are being taken for the FHTC Foundation’s sixth annual benefit auction, slated for Feb. 22. The $25 ticket price includes meal, two beverage tickets and a donation to the foundation. Building green
Flint Hills Technical College will offer a course on April 5,Building Technology for Energy Efficient Homes. The course is designed with educators in mind to give them information and techniques that they can hand on to their students.
This one-day workshop will include: what “green building” really means; seven steps to quick wall layout; energy efficient design for framed structures; a discussion of alternative building products; the Energy Star home and what it takes to get there; and a tour of an energy efficient home being built by students
Along with the one day workshop, teachers desiring one hour of college credit to use toward recertification will be required to submit a short paper covering various aspects of green building. This paper will include a discussion of the techniques covered in the workshop, alternative building systems and products and how the information and techniques will be implemented into their classroom.
