A driver reaching for a cell phone started a series of events that culminated in his pickup truck being run through by a guard rail by the time the incident ended.
According to a report from the Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Tyler R. Schlesener, 20, of Admire was driving north in the 1900 block of Burlingame Road when he reached for a cell phone, veered to the right and struck a sign post. The 1995 Chevrolet S10 pickup truck continued northbound, striking the guard rail. The rail pierced the front of the truck and continued through until it exited the rear of the truck.
Schlesener was not injured in the accident, which was reported at 2:33 a.m. today.

has he wasn't hurt today....
OK, Why hasn't the report about the KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL CAR accident been reported?? The car was taken by a couple of drunk p^nks and wrecked about 6 miles northeast of Emporia ........
Is there some reason for it to be omitted from the news??
Ms. Mlynar, would you please respond here and let us now why something has not been mentioned about it,, I will await your response, thank you.

I am sure that the Sheriffs Dept should know a lot about the accident as well as the KHP. Also wouldn't you be able to already have all of the information about it, Unless, it's a problem with making sure that all or some of the persons involved are maybe excluded from the publishing of the article. It is no secret of who was involved, maybe just taking a while to figure out how NOT to publish the names of those involved, maybe it would be a embarrassment to the families? Also are there pictures of the wrecked car? That would be a great picture to put on the front page top fold of the Emporia Gazette. You know, just covering what is happening in the area!

Mr/Ms Sux - judging by your various posts, you sure have a lot of hate. Why bother? You're only hurting your soul. Seems to me the Gazette has to have facts, not hearsay and rumors, and if the police don't want to talk they can't force them to...Police are probably embarrassed and covering it up.
I'd like to see a picture of the truck, myself.
