Lyon County’s application to the National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System has been approved, Samuel Seeley, Lyon County zoning administrator and flood plain manager announced.
“Approval was attained thanks to the flood plain management activities implemented by former Flood Plain Manager, Steve Samuelson, Emergency Management Director, Rick Frevert, his Administrative Assistant, Glenda Sunter, the Lyon County Commissioners, and several other key players,” Seeley said.
The community has received a Class Rating of 9 which will qualify the community for a 5 percent discount on flood insurance. This took effect Oct.1, 2007.
