Receives award in Air Force

Air National Guard Staff Sgt. Daniel S. Johnson has received the Commander’s Safety Award for the fourth quarter and for the annual award. The annoucement came in a news release from Army & Air Force Hometown News in San Antonio, Tex.

Johnson is a munitions systems craftsman with nine years of military service. He is assigned to the 190th Air Refueling Wing at Forbes Field Air National Guard Base, Topeka.

Selection was based on exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, specific achievements, notable accomplishments and community service and support, the news release stated.

Johnson graduated in 1995 from Northern Heights High School and received an associate degree in 2003 from the Community College of the Air Force. He received a bachelor’s degree in 2005 from Emporia State University. He is working toward a master’s degree in business administration from ESU and plans to graduate in May.

He is the son of Don and Laura Johnson of Americus.
