The Emporia State University community is grieving with the families of three young women whose promising lives were cut short this past weekend.
Brianna Mundy of Emporia was a sophomore majoring in art with a concentration in graphic design. She died Saturday.
Joslyn Kejr of Lindsborg, a junior majoring in elementary education, died in a traffic accident on U.S. Highway 50 west of Emporia Sunday evening.
Nicolette Lyons-Reed of Kansas City , Kan., was a junior in the School of Library Information Management. She received the Emporia Diversity Initiative, and started in the SLIM online program last semester. The man who allegedly shot Lyons-Reed and her infant daughter on Sunday has been apprehended in Texas .
"We at Emporia State want the families of these three young women to know we share in their loss, and that these students will be missed. We will keep these families in our thoughts during this difficult time," said Michael R. Lane , ESU president.

This is incredibly heartbreaking and my thoughts are with the families are all these women. I didn't know any of these girls personally, but Brianna was in one of my classes a few semesters back. She always had a smile on her face.
