Emporia State football coach Garin Higgins filled his coaching vacancy on Thursday, hiring Sean Clowers as the Hornets’ new tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator.
Clowers replaces Danny Cavender, who accepted a position as assistant strength and conditioning coordinator at Kansas State.
“I’m excited to get coach Clowers on our staff,” Higgins said in a release. “We worked together at Northeastern State, so he has a good understanding and familiarity of what we want to do on offense.”
Clowers has served as the offensive line coach at NSU in Tahlequah, Okla., for the past seven seasons.
Before that, Clowers was the offensive line coach at North Garland High School in Garland, Texas. He began his coaching career at Highland Community College, where he oversaw the defensive line and special teams.
Clowers earned his master’s degree from NSU in 2003 and his bachelor’s degree from Sterling College, where he was a three-year letterman in football and basketball.
