Wildlife group honors

Jane Koger of Matfield Green is one of 12 recipients of 2007 Conservation Program Awards from the National Wildlife Federation. Four of the winners are from the Flint Hills area.

Koger was honored as Land and Soil Wildlife Conservationist. Pat Sauble, also of Matfield Green, was honored as a water conservationist. From Council Grove, the Neosho Valley Chapter 238 of Quail Unlimited, Council Grove, earned praise as an organization and Brent Konen was singled out as a wildlife conservationist.

They, along with the other Kansas winners, will be honored in early February at a dinner in Manhattan.

Business has new owner

A 16-year-old Emporia business is now in the hands of its third owner. Gary Unruh is the new owner of the recycling business that began in 1992 when Keith Mushock decided to fulfill a need he perceived in the community.

After 13 years, Mushock sold the business to David Simon, who recently sold it to Unruh.

In a news release, the business said, “Gary recognizes the importance of this business and is committed to continuing the efforts that have preceded him.”

People who want information about the business may leave a message for Unruh at 343-3239.

Passes CPA exam

Adam J. Endres of Emporia is one of 32 candidates who successfully passed the Kansas Board of Accountancy’s computerized exam during October and November.

Passage of the national exam is the first step to becoming a certified public accountant. Before receiving a permit to practice, candidates must meet an experience requirement.
