Madison boys 72, Cair Paravel 59
Now, the Madison Bulldogs are finding all sorts of different ways to win ballgames.
Though known for its quick starts, Madison overcame a poor first quarter Friday, taking control in the second half of a 72-59 victory over Cair Paravel.
The Bulldogs put themselves in a 24-15 hole after the first quarter but trimmed the deficit to 34-33 at halftime.
Madison followed by dominating the third quarter.
After being asked in the halftime locker room to pick up their intensity, the Bulldogs did, going on a 19-3 third-quarter run to take a 52-37 lead.
“Usually, we like to get out of the gate well. It was different being behind,” Madison coach Alan Brown said. “By us coming back, it showed we could play from behind. I think that should benefit us down the road as well.”
Kaleb Schankie led all scorers with 21 points, while Eric Porter contributed 19.
Caleb Hamilton added double figures with 10 points and also played a key role defensively in the second half.
After being switched to guard Cair Paravel’s best player, Jeremy Wynne, Hamilton locked down on the point guard and frustrated him in the final 16 minutes.
