U.S. Rep. Jerry Moran announced Thursday that, effective today, the mileage reimbursement for veterans driving to Veterans Affairs medical centers is being increased. The rate was raised from 11 cents a mile to 28.5 cents a mile.

It is the first increase in the mileage reimbursement since 1978.
