Two non-injury accidents occurred within minutes of each other Thursday morning in the 1900 block of Road U. No injuries were reported.
According to a report from Deputy Jody Meyers of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Kansas Highway Patrol troopers responded to the first accident report at 6:45 a.m.
Angel Castro, 27, was driving a 1992 Mercury passenger car north on Road U when he lost control of the car, which went into a ditch.
Wyatt Cole, 22, of Burlington came upon the accident and stopped to help.
An unidentified passenger in the Castro vehicle walked up the hill to slow traffic while Cole helped Castro get the vehicle out of the ditch.
Rylee Johnson, 22, of Emporia did not see the person attempting to slow traffic down, and continued down the hill. Her 1999 BMW struck the Cole pickup, which then struck the Castro’s vehicle, which had just been pulled from the ditch.
Meyers said that no one was injured in the accident.
