George Abel, assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, has received a special award for his professional contributions to curriculum development in Kansas.
Abel received the 2007 Executive Directors’ Outstanding Service Award from the Kansas Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development. The award was presented at an annual lunch of KASCD and the Kansas North Central Association Jan. 24 in Wichita.
Dr. Abel is a long-time member of KASCD and he has served in multiple offices in the association, including president.
Executive Director Mike Neal said this is the first year the Outstanding Service Award was presented.
“The Awards Committee of KASCD recognized that George Able should be the winner of about every category of service to Kansas ASCD for about every year,” Neal said. “They wanted to use George as the model of lifetime service to Kansas education and specifically to KASCD.”
