At midnight tomorrow, we will ring in a new year. Although it is just another day, it does provide an opportunity to have a fresh start, identify new goals and explore new opportunities. We don’t need to carry the burdens from this year into the new year.
With our country working through an economic meltdown on the national level, and the state staring at a billion dollar budget deficit, economic issues will trickle down to pose significant challenges for our community.
An economic turnaround is projected for late 2009, and many people would probably rather be ringing in 2010 tomorrow.
We can be thankful our community is shielded from the big economic swings occurring on the coasts. Our progress is slow and steady, and, although not exciting, it is stable.
In the coming year, our community leaders will face many challenges and will have to accomplish much to keep us moving forward.
But as we have learned before, we will need to work together as a team to bring progress and prosperity to our community in the New Year.
Have a safe and happy New Year.
