Lamar Wilbern led five ESU players in double figures with 22 points and Wilbern had a double-double with 10 rebounds. Tim Niles made four 3-pointers, scored 16 points and had a team-high five assists.

Jeremiah Box and Adam Holthaus scored 14 apiece and Robert Moores added 12.

The Hornets improve to 4-1 in the MIAA and 10-2 overall, while the Mavericks fall to 2-2 in the MIAA.

Half

Nebraska-Omaha leads Emporia State 44-34 at halftime at White Auditorium.

The Mavericks have built their lead by getting to the free throw line — making 15 of 17 — and taking advantage of a slow ESU start. The Mavs led 24-10 at one point.

The Hornets were able to climb back into the game thanks to Tim Niles 10 points off the bench. Lamar Wilbern has nine points, including a layup at the buzzer.
