The Lyon County Emergency Food and Shelter Program has been chosen to receive $25,642 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in Lyon County. The local EFSP board is responsible for recommending agencies to receive these funds. Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for EFSP funds must call United Way office manager Tina Andrews at 342-7564, e-mail: tinaa@uwfh.org or write her at 702 Commercial St., Suite 2-E, Emporia, KS 66801 for an application. The deadline for applications to be received is 3:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 2009, at the Emporia Public Library large meeting room.
