A Plea for Help
Tuesday, December 30, 2008
We take this opportunity to visit with you and make a special appeal for your help and even your additional help for the United Way of the Flint Hills assuring them that the dollars will be available to help those in need.
We commend Drive Chair Connie Cahoone for her willingness to step forward to take of this task of the 2008 drive knowing the condition and severity of the economy. Our area is not immune to these conditions causing us to unite to help the less fortunate. We are especially concerned for those who are unemployed without resources to care for their families.
Many of us had successful drives, but today the need is even greater, in recent years we have seen the closing of certain industries and businesses and we are all saddened by these actions. Unfortunately, the needs go on and on and on ..... If you are able to help by a pledge, a one-time gift or by increasing your existing pledge, or by making another gift, we would all be grateful.
United Way fund recipients need our help, Connie Cahoone needs our help and we simple ask you to take a hard look at the many problems area people, young and old, face in their daily lives. Please take the time to count your blessings and consider making a generous contribution to the United Way of the Flint Hills.
We know that struggles of a successful drive, we ask for your help.

Can you tell us what percentage of the donations stay in the Emporia/Flint Hills area and what agencies/causes the money goes to?

Mr O...where is goes is determined after it is collected. UW needs to know how much they collect before they can pass it on to the programs of various agencies. It all stays around here unless you count things like federal postage stamps. UW buys services in this area from agencies who serve this area
