ESU women win at Truman

Cassondra Boston scored 21 points to lead Emporia State to a 83-72 win on Monday at Truman.
Truman shot 63.3 percent in the first half and made 7-of-12 threes. But the Lady Bulldogs could not keep up their hot shooting in the second half. They did not attempt another 3-pointer and shot 28 percent in the second half.
Andrea Leiker and Sophia Lenard both scored 16 for the Lady Hornets, who imprvoed to 4-0 in the MIAA and 10-1 overall. For complete coverage of Monday's game, check Tuesday's Emporia Gazette.
Half
Truman is putting a scare in the Lady Hornets in Kirksville. The Lady Bulldogs lead 45-43 at halftime, led by Georgia Mueller’s 18 points.
Truman is shooting 63.3 percent from the field and is 7-for-12 from 3-point range. Emporia State is 1-for-8 on 3-pointers, but has stayed in the game by outscoring Truman 10-0 at the free throw line.
Casssondra Boston leads ESU with 11 points and Ida Edwards has 10.
Truman led for most of the half until Boston scored on a driving layup to give the Lady Hornets a 41-40 lead with 1:49 left in the half. The two teams traded leads the rest of the half, the last basket coming on a 3-pointer from Julie Guinn with three seconds left in the half.
