ESU’s staff contributes to CASA fundraiser

The staff of Emporia State University’s William Allen White Library is aiming its generosity at CASA of the Flint Hills this holiday season. Staff members raised $242 in donations for the CASA Tree at Emporia’s Town Crier bookstore, enabling the purchase of books for children in need.
“For the past several years, staff members have collected money for a variety of local causes,” explained Candy Johnson, library assistant. “This year, we decided the CASA Tree at Town Crier would be a good cause. And what better way for librarians to promote reading than to provide books for kids?” she continued.
Becky Smith, Town Crier manager, accepted the donation on behalf of CASA. Approximately 120 area children will be receiving books through the program this holiday season.
