Emporia State men get first conference road win

Robert Moores scored 19 points to lead Emporia State to a 63-58 win on Monday night at Truman.
Moores made a 3-pointer 16 seconds left to give the Hornets a drama-less final possession and the Hornets came away with their first MIAA road win, improving to 3-1 in the conference.
Lamar Wilbern had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Dustin Andrews added 11 points. For complete coverage of Monday’s game, check Tuesday’s Emporia Gazette.
Half
Emporia State leads Truman 31-24 at half in Kirksville.
Lamar Wilbern has scored nine points and Dustin Andrews has seven, including a buzzer-beating 18 footer at the end of the half.
The Hornets got off to a hot start and led 21-8 before Truman went on a 10-3 run to close to within six. Truman’s Brian Nwelue had a dunk to pull the Bulldogs to within three, but Andrews scored the final four points of the half to give the Hornets a seven-point lead at the break.
