Riverside
The December meeting of the Riverside 4-H Club was called to order by president Rebekah Kvas at Pyramid Pizza in Emporia. Roll call was “What is your favorite Christmas symbol?” It was answered by 17 members, 14 parents, two leaders and three guests.
The first item of new business was no cell phones. The decided to add this new rule to its bylaws. The group also voted that members must attend at least eight meetings and participate in all club fund raising and community service events to be a member of good standing with the club. We are going to donate cleaning supplies to the Miller church as a Christmas gift and $25 to Dale Dickson’s memorial fund. For many years the officers have had to buy new notebooks for their yearly books. At the meeting we voted to combine the books so we don’t have to keep buying multiple notebooks.
A reminder to all 4-H members — if you haven’t cashed your Lyon County Fair or State Fair checks, please do so immediately. They are void after Jan. 1. There will be Council meeting at 7 p.m. Monday. The deadline to sign up for Club Days is Feb. 6. Club Days are on March 7.
Aubrey Jenkins talked about what she took to the fair last year for foods. Sarah Robinson had us sing “Jingle Bells” for song. At the end of the meeting, everyone packed up and went to the bowling alley to bowl for two hours of recreation.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Jan. 7.
