A Lyon County man is among a list of 19 people who were granted pardons or a commutation of sentence today by President George W. Bush.
Delano Abraham Nixon of Neosho Rapids received a pardon for his conviction on “forging the endorsement on a U.S. Treasury check, according to an announcement from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Nixon had been sentenced on Feb. 2, 1962, in the District of Kansas and received three years’ probation, with the condition that he pay restitution.
Details of the case were not immediately available.
The pardon received national attention Tuesday evening, when the case was mentioned on the Rachel Maddow Show on the MSNBC network.
Maddow pointed out that the Lyon County man carried the name of three presidents – Delano, Abraham, Nixon – and that he was the second Nixon to receive a pardon from the White House.

I just thought it a rather obscure person to pardon. I don't know how they pick the people to put in front of the president to chose some to pardon. I thought it was usually more prominent people or something.
