Area churches plan Christmas services

Many churches in and around Emporia are offering Christmas Eve or Christmas Day services. They include:

Americus United Methodist Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.

Emporia Presbyterian Church will have a Christmas Eve candlelight service with Communion at 6 p.m.

Free rides will be available to the Faith Lutheran Church Christmas Eve candlelight service at 7 p.m.

The First Christian Church will have a Christmas Eve service at 8 p.m.

The First United Methodist Church plans a children’s Christmas service at 4 p.m. and a Christmas Eve candlelight, caroling and Communion service at 7:30 p.m.

Grace United Methodist Church plans a Christmas Eve service for 7 p.m.

There will be Christmas Eve worship at 4 and 11 p.m. at Lebo-Olivet United Methodist Church.

Messiah Lutheran Church is offering its “Joy for the World” quiet time on the Prayer Walk at the church through Christmas Day. There will be Christmas Eve services at 4:30 and 7 p.m.

Reading United Methodist Church will have its Christmas Eve service at 6 p.m.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church will have Christmas Eve services at 5:30, 7 and 10 p.m. and a Christmas Day service at 9 a.m.

Christmas Eve services at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will be a family service with no incense at 5 p.m. and the first Eucharist of Christmas (with incense) at 11:30 p.m. A musical interlude will begin at 11 p.m. The Christmas Day Eucharist will be at 9 a.m.

St. Catherine Catholic Church will celebrate Mass at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church will have Christmas Eve services at 7 and 10 p.m.

Tri-Parish United Methodist Church plans a Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 5 p.m. at Miller United Methodist Church.

The candlelight service for the Emporia Presbyterian Church actually starts at 7:15pm with special Christmas music. There is a 3:00pm service as well.
