The winner
Lu Ann Gilkison of Emporia is a winner in the Casey’s General Stores/Pepsi Free Gas Give-a-Way. She was one of eight winners who will receive free gas for an entire year.
Founded in 1968, Casey’s General Stores operate convenience stores in a nine-state Midwest area. Casey’s products include gasoline, pizza, doughnuts, beverages, ice and a large selection of grocery items. Introduced in 1983, Casey’s homemade carryout pizza has grown to be one of the largest chain of pizza kitchens in the United States.
Lights for Angels
Lights and angels still may be purchased for three Lights for Angels trees at Newman Regional Health.
The project is a fundraiser sponsored by the Newman Auxiliary, with proceeds donated to the nursing scholarship fund at Emporia State University Newman Division of Nursing.
Three trees are inside the hospital in the north lobby, and one is outside on the east side.
The project is intended to honor loved ones and friends who have passed away, or to honor living individuals or people in the armed forces, according to Nancy LeClear, director of marketing and education for Newman.
The Armed Forces tree has gold lights; the memory tree has white lights; and the tree to honor the living has red lights.
Forms may be picked up at the information desk inside the hospital, with a $5 fee charged for an angel and a light to be placed on the tree of choice.
People who want to pick up their angels may do so after Jan. 2, LeClear said.
